Our Casualty Reduction Officers (CRO’s) work tirelessly across all four Welsh forces to keep our roads safe. They are passionate about road safety and actively enforce the speed limits and other traffic laws at key locations across the road networks to reduce collisions, save lives, and keep the motoring public safe.
All GoSafe Casualty Reduction Officers have been designated as policing support officers in accordance with section 38 of the Police Reform Act 2002 whereby our CRO’s have the authority to enforce speed limits on the roads of Wales. They are therefore carrying out their legal duty whenever you see them at any of our sites across the country.
Unfortunately, our CRO’s have, on occasion, been victims of abuse, both verbal and physical, whilst performing their duties.
Abuse towards any of our CRO’s, Enquiry Officers or Staff within GoSafe will not be tolerated and action will be taken against those who commit an offence.
All our GoSafe vehicles are fitted with CCTV cameras and our CRO’s wear body worn cameras. Any abusive behaviour towards our CRO’s or vehicles will be dealt with accordingly. Our CRO’s are out enforcing to ensure the safety of all road users and if you see them, rest assured they are in the right place, at the right time, for the right reason.
