A New Collaboration Between GoSafe Cymru & Driving for Better Business

The strategic aim of GoSafe is to make people safer on Welsh roads by reducing casualties and saving lives.

We want to engage with and educate the motoring public on the importance of road safety and encourage compliance with speed limits as well as a change in behaviour, rather than hand out fines. Enforcement is but one tool in our road safety armoury.

Driving for Better Business is a government-backed Highways England programme to help employers in both the private and public sectors reduce work-related road risk, control the associated costs and improve compliance with current legislation and guidance.

We know that for many businesses and companies, driving is a key part of what they do. Haulage firms, bus companies, delivery fleets, Local Authority vehicles to name but a few. The Driving for Better Business vision is: “A world where those who use the roads for work do so safely, efficiently, and sustainably”.

Driving for Better Business has been operating in England since 2007 and in 2021 GoSafe will be collaborating closely with DfBB to bring their expertise and unique offering to fleet managers and travel based companies here in Wales.

Alison Moriarty Fleet Risk Director, DRiiVE consulting Ltd, DfBB Ambassador said:

“ 1/3 of drivers killed on our roads and 1/4 of drivers seriously injured, are driving for work. This should be all the insentive we need for working with fleets to improve their safety. DfBB is committed to helping companies understand and negate their fleet risk by raising awareness and educating. Under the DfBB banner business’s work collaboratively to share resources and make our roads a safer place to drive”

GoSafe have a history of working in partnership to deliver the shared goal of making Welsh roads safer for everyone. This new partnership will help us engage with key road users who deliver goods the width and bredth of the country as well as essential travel within our local communities.

Teresa Ciano, GoSafe Partnership Manager said:

“Bringing the excellent range of educational assets of Driving for Better Business into Wales will offer Welsh businesses and fleet managers the opportunity to enhance the safety of their drivers and vehicles. The collaboration between GoSafe and Driving for Better Business is an exciting new venture for 2021, which will aim to increase both the safety and sustainability of business focused vehicles on the roads of Wales. Working together to achieve a shared goal is a key ethos within GoSafe and we look forward to bringing Driving for Better Business into Wales.”
