Driving Home For Christmas

“Driving home for Christmas…

 And it's been so long

But I will be there

I sing this song

To pass the time away

Driving in my car.”

This year, more than ever, those famous lines from the classic Christmas song have real meaning behind them.

After spending most of 2020 under lockdown, travel restrictions and household bubbles, being able to spend Christmas with our loved ones will really be something we will all treasure and enjoy.

Following the announcement by the Government that three households will be allowed to mix indoors over a 5 day period between the 23rd & 27th December, with no travel restrictions we will undoubtedly see an increase in the volume of traffic on our roads.

If you’ll be travelling on the roads of Wales this Christmas, be safe, stand up for slowing down and drive to the legal speed limits.

Choose safety over risk and wear your seatbelt on every journey, no matter how short or familiar it is.

Be aware of your surroundings and don’t be tempted to look at or answer your phone whilst driving.

To make the roads of Wales as safe as possible this Christmas we must all play our part and think about our behaviours and attitudes on the roads.

Leave a safe distance between your vehicle as you overtake a cyclist or horse rider, and take that extra second to think before you act, that one second could make all the difference.

All of us at GoSafe hope you all have a very Happy and safe Christmas and if you are driving home for Christmas, be aware and be safe.
