The DVSA (Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency) are extending MOTs for 6 months.
Any vehicles that have an MOT due on or after 30/03/2020 will be automatically extended for 6 months.
The DVSA will update the MOT on the vehicle record 5 working days before the expiry date. If you have any further questions around MOTs please contact: enquiries@dvsa.gov.uk
However, as restrictions are eased when safe to do so, all drivers whose car, motorcycle or van is due for an MOT test from 01/08/2020 will be required to get a test certificate to continue driving their vehicle.
Drivers with an MOT due date before 01/08/2020 will still receive a 6-month exemption from testing. However, all vehicles must continue to be properly maintained and kept in a roadworthy condition, and people are able to voluntarily get their MOT sooner should they wish, even if they are exempt from the legal requirement. Motorists can be prosecuted for driving an unsafe vehicle.
