Community Concern

Following the introduction of the new default speed limit, we have reviewed how we consider new enforcement locations in 20mph areas.

As a change in speed limit will influence driver behaviour, we will allow time for driver behaviour to adjust. We will be working closely with our partners to provide roadside engagement and promote the change in driver behaviour. We will ensure that the new speed limits are respected during this time and will prosecute the most dangerous drivers.

We will complete an assessment of the requested location, as we will continue to consider new enforcement locations following collisions, or high-risk concerns, in a 20mph area. If the area is not currently suitable for enforcement, we will ensure that it is noted as a possible location for our dedicated roadside engagement teams.

Please note, this does not affect areas where the speed limit is greater than 20mph.

GoSafe receives numerous requests from communities and individuals asking for speed enforcement on their roads which are not approved camera sites. Requests for enforcement are made by concerned people who fear that speeding traffic in their area will eventually result in a collision or casualty.

If you have a concern about speeding in your community, please complete the relevant form and we will endeavour to respond as soon as possible.

If your enquiry or concern is regarding reducing speed limits, engineering works such as installation of traffic calming measures or the deployment of Vehicle Activated Signs (VAS) or Speed Indication Devices (SIDs) please contact your Local Authority.

Please note that due to increasing requests for enforcement, there is likely to be a significant delay in response times to submitted GoSafe Community Concern and GoSafe General Enquiry Forms.
